There are a few clinical trials going on right now related to postpartum depression. Wanted to let you know in case any of you are eligible and would like to participate:

MGH Center for Women's Mental health is recruiting for a study to evaluatethe effectiveness ofescitalopram (also known as Lexapro) for the treatment of postpartum depression. You may be eligible if you are between the ages of 18 and 45, gave birth within the past six months, began to feel depressed and anxious within 3 months of giving birth, are not currently taking an antidepressant and are not breastfeeding. If you participate you will receive study medications and evaluations of your mood at no cost and you will be compensated up to $150 over the course of the 8-week study. The National Institute of Mental Health is recruiting for a study that evaluates the effectiveness of estrogen treatment in women with postpartum depression (PPD). You may be eligible if you have a history of at least 2 weeks with postpartum-related mood disturbances, have had a baby within the last six months, are between the ages of 20 and 45, have received no prior hormonal therapy within the last six months, have no history of psychiatric illness during the two years prior to the current episode of depression, and are in good medical health and not taking any medication or dietary and herbal supplements on a regular basis (with the exception of multivitamins or calcium supplements).
