Two New Practices Specializing in Postpartum Depression Treatment

postpartum depression supportI’m so pleased to be able to share good news with you today about two wonderful people who work hard to help women with postpartum depression.  It’s so hard to find postpartum depression specialists, so this is very exciting!!

First, there’s my friend Cathy Dore, MA, who has just opened up her own therapy practice in California to treat postpartum depression and other family behavioral health issues.  Cathy is a licensed marriage and family therapist and also the on the board of directors of Postpartum Support International.  I know her and she’s awesome.  Her practice serves women in throughout San Fernando Valley. To make an appointment, call 818-207-0426.

Then there’s my friend Meeka Centimano, LSCSW, who has just opened up the first full-service perinatal mental health practice in Kansas City, KS. You can get medical evaluation and monitoring by a psychiatric, therapy with clinicians that specialize in postpartum depression (and related illnesses of course), and connect with other moms for peer support.  It’s so new it doesn’t even have a name yet!  To make an appointment, call 913-381-4200. The practice is located on Mission Road in Prairie Village.

It makes me so happy every time a place like this opens up for women who are struggling through postpartum depression.  We need SO many more of these!  Yay Cathy and Meeka!!

  1. This is so wonderful! I have heard of Meeka Centimano through Karen Kleiman. She and I both trained with Karen (at different times). Could you also include our practice here in Chicago? Ours is the only community-based PPMD program in the state of Illinois. We have 3 clinicians (myself included), a case-manager, and a psychiatrist (all women) all working under one roof. One of the best things about our program is that we're fully Spanish-English bilingual and never turn anyone away for the inability to pay. I'm working hard at spreading the word about our program, even though it's been around for about 8 years it's still not widely known about or easily located through a google search of "PPD" and "Chicago." Thanks!!!
