Sara and Jeff Tow had to be pulled from the water last night more than halfway through their 50-mile swim across Lake Michigan to raise awareness and funding for postpartum depression. They were just 11 miles short of their goal.

The Detroit Free Press reports that they were declared medically unable to continue the swim by their medical team after having to fight strong currents that led to further exhaustion and dehydration. They were brought to the Memorial Medical Center in Ludington, Mich., for medical evaluation.

I just did a quick check of their Facebook page and there haven’t been any updates since last night. I’m hoping and praying they are well.

Sara and Jeff, please know you are champions. You succeeded FULLY in your project because you have raised awareness for postpartum depression. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
