It’s Spring Break week here in Atlanta and I’m offline most of the week. Here’s a message from Kate Kripke about a new online video support group for postpartum depression.

This is pretty exciting stuff, folks.  And the way that technology is helping us out is astounding to me.  Regroup Therapy has created the first video support group for PPD and now any mom, anywhere, who is struggling with postpartum depression or anxiety can join a group that is moderated by a clinician who is specially trained in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.  I mean, wow.  We still have a long way to go in training professionals across the globe so that each and every OB, Midwife, Pediatrician, Psychiatrist, nurse, educator, and general medical doctor knows the ins and outs of identifying and treating these illnesses.  But, for the time being, this is a way that moms everywhere can feel less alone.

So, if you are struggling and live in an area where there is inadequate support, if you are a mom with a new baby who finds getting out of the house incredibly difficult at this point, or if you are already receiving individual treatment and also want to find a community of similar moms, please check this out.  And let us know what you think…

And, yes, I am one of the moderators.

*** Please note, these groups are not psychotherapy groups and are meant for support only.

Editor’s note: Right now the site is in beta so group support sessions are free, which makes it a great time to check out this service and see if it’s for you. Also, in addition to the awesome Kate Kripke, other online support group moderators include the awesome Pec Indman and Stacey Glaesmann.
