Ordinary CourageLast winter I attended a blogging conference in Nashville called Blissdom.  One of the keynote speakers was Brene Brown.  I have to admit I hadn’t heard of her, so I had no idea what to expect.  Then she opened her mouth and an entire ballroom full of hundreds of women was rapt.  She talked about imperfection.  She talked about shame, and how it leads us to hide rather than reach out.  I remember thinking how much her message applied to women with postpartum depression.

I wanted to let you know about an online class called Ordinary Courage.  It features Brene Brown’s groundbreaking work on shame resilience, offering “a specific set of skills anyone can use at anytime to transform moments of self-doubt and uncertainty into connection and courage”.  The last Ordinary Courage class of 2011 is forming now and will start on October 10.  What’s great about it is that you can follow the class at your own pace and at any time.  If you’re awake at 3am and ready to learn a little about feeling worthy of love and belonging, you can log on and listen to the audio messages.  You can also talk with the community of others taking the class.  It’s a pretty cool set up.
