UN Social Good FellowsI just got back from the Social Good Summit in New York City and my brain is so jam-packed that I feel almost paralyzed. Where do I start? What do I do first?

It was an honor to hear from so many who are focused on and deeply committed to global health issues, including IntraHealth, Medic Mobile and the Gates Foundation, and I am grateful to the UN Foundation and the Shot At Life program for giving us access to the people who represent these amazing organizations. At the same time, listening to and chatting with the speakers served to reinforce to me that mental health remains off the radar screen, including postpartum depression, an illness that can have a lifelong impact on mothers and children around the world. We have a lot of work to do to convince people that mental health is an integral part of overall health.

It was also encouraging and validating to spend time with parenting bloggers who use their platform and influence to help other people. It was a sharp, accomplished and diverse group, with each person caring about many different causes. Collectively I know we will continue to make an impact, as we did, with your astounding help, for Blogust.

Meantime, on Friday Babble announced its list of the Top 25 Social Media for Social Good bloggers. I’m very pleased to be part of that list, though I know it’s only a representative list of the thousands of parents who are using the internet to help others, including many of you. I would encourage you to check out the blogs of some of the other amazing men and women who are listed there.

And now back to our regularly scheduled PPD programming …
